Broome Street Gallery

New York City, NY

Bodywork to Artwork

Transformed from an industrial workspace, this project repurposes a former auto body shop in Chinatown as the new home for a contemporary 4,600 square foot art gallery.

An indoor workshop or garage with construction tools and equipment, including a ladder, a fan, and a vehicle trailer, with a raised platform and various scattered items.

Organized into three zones: a transparent, street-facing reception area, private offices, and a rear gallery, the layout balances openness with intimacy. The fully glazed façade maintains a visual link to the street, inviting engagement while the main gallery provides a focused setting adaptable to diverse exhibitions and future programming.
